The Animals Stool is created by devising a method that interprets a classic French stool and bench typology, the kind seen across the brocantes of Paris. Instead of carving a mortise for each leg, we cut the scraps at an angle and compose them in a patchwork that captures the leg. It saves the rigorous carving and still fits tight. It holds a reclaimed leg of any dimension, so almost nothing has to be refined away. Nothing is carved to fit. The scrap keeps its shape and becomes the piece.
